Truth

Truth is expensive. It takes time to find, it is often incomplete, and it does not care whether it is convenient.

It is not the same as sincerity. A person can mean every word and still be wrong. It is not the same as consensus. A crowd can agree and still be looking at a costume.

A true claim can be checked. It leaves a trail. It survives a second look from someone who does not already want it to be so.

That is why truth often sounds quieter than deception. It has less to sell.
